Nutmeg and Mace are two distinct spices derived from the fruit of the tree Myristica fragrans of the family Myristicaceae. Myristica fragrans is unique as it is the only tree globally that produces these two separate spices.

Within the fruit of Myristica fragrans, there exists a hard pit known as nutmeg, alongside a delicate, lacy red membrane surrounding it, referred to as mace.

Originating from the Moluccas in East Indonesia, nutmeg thrives as a perennial evergreen spice tree. Since ancient times, nutmeg has been highly valued for its diverse culinary and medicinal applications.
